  • Current Fire Restrictions

    The following acts are currently prohibited on the San Bernardino National Forest:

    Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(a).

    • Persons with a valid California Campfire Permit are not exempt from the prohibitions listed above. However, persons with a valid California Campfire Permit may use a portable campfire ring/pit, stove, or lantern in an area at least five feet from any flammable materials provided that the portable campfire ring/pit, stove, or lantern only burns gas, kerosene, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel, with a shut-off valve.

    Smoking. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(d).

    • Exemption: You can smoke in an enclosed vehicle or building, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material

    Operating an internal combustion engine off of paved, gravel, or dirt National Forest System roads and trails, except for boats operating on a water surface. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(h).

    Welding, or operating acetylene or other torch with open flame. 36 C.F.R. § 261.52(i).

    Going into and or being upon fire closure areas. 36 C.F.R. 261.52(e), C.F.R. § 261.54(e), C.F.R. § 261.55(a) and/or 36 C.F.R. § 261.58(b).
